RS for Russia and FSU together with Russian regional Environmental Centre organized a press conference on "Global energy security and role of renewable energy for Russia and Former Soviet Union, G8 and the world" on March, 22.

The RS for Russia and FSU started the informational campaign with this press-conference aimed at development of renewable energy in the region. The other key participants of the conference included representatives of the World Bank, RAO UES and Committee on Environment of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.

The speakers discussed the world trends and regional perspectives for renewable energy development and role of the REEEP regional Secretariats in promotion of renewable energy in the region.

The journalists initiated discussion on policy support of renewable energy development in Russia and FSU. In such a way the crucial barriers for development of renewable energy in the regiona have been indicated in the press-conference and related to absence of the general regulatory framework for renewable energy and lack of policy and incentives.
